MDDN 211 - Proposal

Proposal

The theme that i am looking into doing is skateboarding. Skateboarding has been around for a long time now originating around the late 1940's and progressed over the years breaking into different styled movements. I would like to use vintage footage to create the three different videos as the different range of captured footage makes it interesting and gives the viewers an insight of what the sport use to be like.

The three different styled videos that I have thought about doing are an action, humor, and romance. I also thought strongly about doing an advertising one depending on how other styles work out.

Action

This would be built up with a large amount of quick shots changing showing different views and what can skaters can do on their boards.  A slow motion clip could be displayed at the end or near the end for a nice ending clip to slow it down before finishing giving the viewers a “whoa” effect. As a transition between clips 6 different clips could be displayed at once then zoom in on the main one before quickly changing through the other ones.

Humor

A range of funny bails some sped up making them look different with soft transitions between. Could be followed up with showing how safety gear is needed or tips on how not to ride the skateboard. Incorporate text such as “Tip one, Tip two…” with some explanation on what not to do.

Romance

Slow paced clips swapping between the skateboards its self and the rider. Use the cutting between scenes and soft transitions to show the relationship between the rider and his/her board. If colours are involved use bright happier colours. Outro could get with a heart getting smaller or bigger on the object or the rider showing their love for riding.

Slower paced clips and a wide range of what can be done with a skateboard, and how much fun can be had.  Cut scenes between the footage of showing skateboarders, the cut scene footage explaining the skateboards themselves.  Cross over transitions between clips making the video very smooth.
